Choose which candidate you wish to be by clicking on the name of the candidate below the picture. Bob Dole is the default candidate.
To begin the election click on Play.
2) US Map
Each state has a name and number of electoral votes enclosed in a box. To decide each state's election you must click on this box after it becomes highlited green. You will then enter the election game. The more electoral votes a state has the harder it will be to win that state!
After a state is won it will be highlited (blue for Dole, red for Clinton) and will no longer be playable.
The chart to the bottom left of the map keeps track of the election.
3) State Election
Move your Clinton or Dole head around the screen to collect the votes which are represented by numbers. If a vote disappears it will go to your competitor.
Avoid enemies (squares with red borders). If you touch an ememy you will be frozen for a few seconds.
If a star appears run into it and you will win all the votes on the screen. If an enemy gets the star your competitor will win all the votes.
Avoid the green barricades. If you touch them they may bounce you around the screen or hold you up.
To eliminate an enemy you can sling mud at them. Do this by pressing the mouse button while moving in the direction of the enemy. The slower you are moving the faster you can sling mud.
The election is over when a candidate has won a majority of the states popular vote.
4) Winning
A candidate wins when they have a majority of the Electoral vote.
Good Luck!

SHAREWARE:
I have spent many hours in front of the computer writing this game. Considering how much work I put into the game I decided to release Election96 as shareware. I believe the shareware fee of $10(US) is fair (I hope you think the same!)
